2026 is here, which means it’s time to reveal the Most Popular Recipes of 2025! This year’s list features 8 recipes making their first appearance, alongside rediscovered favourites getting renewed attention and 3 brand new recipes published during the year.

I hope you’ll find inspiration in one or more of these favourite recipes. And as I head into the 14th year of heinstirred and with the internet covered in AI recipe slop I’m as excited as ever to share more delicious recipes with you. With the world seemingly a bit crazier each time I do this recap, let’s make this year full of flavour and new taste adventures.

Claudia Roden’s Turkish Yoghurt Cake is the most popular recipe for 2025 and for the 3rd year in a row. If you have not made this cake before, it is an incredibly quick and easy yoghurt based cheesecake using only 6 ingredients. Glam it up with some fresh berries of your choice.

Second on the list is this brilliant mid week chicken dish of Coconut Chicken with Leeks and Mushrooms. This is uncomplicated home cooking at its best – wholesome and delicious with very little effort.

I am so happy that My Mom’s Buttermilk Rusks is the third most popular recipe for 2025 and she was so surprised when I shared the news with her. South Africans can’t live without rusks and I grew up with these buttermilk rusks. The recipe is from my grandmother with my mom’s own tweaks over the years. It is one of the few recipes that I have not changed. To me, it is perfect as it is.

Number 4 is my version of the chocolate that kept trending in 2025 and these Dubai Chocolate Truffles have been a hit since I pressed publish in June 2025. Decadent and rich, these are special occasion treats that your guests and family will love.

Number 5 is pretty much my ultimate side dish, Braised Leeks with Thyme and Garlic. Inspired by a dish I had in Portugal, these braised leeks are melt in the mouth delicious and fabulous way of serving the vegetable as the hero.

I published the recipe for this delicious Ostrich and Mushroom Stroganoff back in 2020 and it’s always been a favourite on the blog with renewed interest in 2025. A mix of old school stroganoff but replacing the beef with healthier ostrich, giving it a South African flavour. Serve it with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon for a wintery treat.

Another recipe from 2020 and this Baked Sausages with Apple and Red Onion is a brilliant mid week meal, making full use of the convenience a good quality sausage brings. Inspired by a recipe from Diana Henry this recipe may use few ingredients but is packed with flavour.

If you are looking for something lighter and meat free I can highly recommend no 8 The Most Popular Recipes of 2025, Crispy Tofu with Zucchini Noodles and Tahini Soy Dressing. Featuring my “go to” Tahini and Soy Dressing, this recipe is packed to the brim with flavour, protein and nutrients.

The only other recipe in this year’s round up that appeared on the 2024 most popular recipe list is this classic Muesli Buttermilk Rusks featuring at number 9. The recipe is from Sally Andrews’ book, Recipe for Love and Murder and has been a favourite recipe on my blog since 2017.

And to complete the list of The Most Popular Recipes of 2025, is a drink. And what a fabulous drink it is. My Frozen Limoncello Spritz is inspired by the Italian Sgroppino. What can be better than a scoop of lemon sorbet, doused with a splash of limoncello and then topped up with sparking wine?

Wishing you a safe, healthy and delicious 2026. May the year be gentle and kind to you and yours
