Photographer Hein van Tonder specialise in food, hospitality, lifestyle, interior  and architecture photography. With a wealth of international experience of almost a decade, he has had the privilege of collaborating with global brands such as Nespresso, Spinneys, Four Seasons Abu Dhabi, One & Only, The Lana by Dorchester, Bab Al Nojoum, Villa Mamas, Lavazza, Conde Nast Traveller and Lindt to name a few. 

His journey in the culinary arts has been one of creative exploration and relentless pursuit of excellence. Through his lens, Hein has crafted captivating imagery that not only garner attention but also tells compelling stories.

Winner in 2024, 2023 & 2017 at the global World Food Photography Awards competition and awarded Highly Commended in 2020, 2019, 2016 and 2015, it was the 9th time van Tonder has been a finalist in this world-respected food photography competition, being shortlisted each year since 2015. In December 2019 he won Food Photographer of the Year in the Admired in Africa awards.

His work includes commercial and editorial photography and videography, recipe development, creative direction, cooking in the kitchen and global tasting of all things food, lifestyle and interiors, always contributing to and featuring his work across popular magazines, cookbooks, blogs, websites and social media accounts for clients across the globe.

His popular blog and Instagram account Heinstirred, features inspiring, easy to make at home recipes, delicious food photography images and reels and insider details on exciting foodie destinations across the world.

Freelancing in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Hein is available to produce captivating visuals that will resonate with your audience.
