As we welcome the new year, it’s time for one of my favourite traditions: recapping the Most Popular Recipes of 2024! This list features a  mix of recipes that has become classics, with views each day from across the world and newer recipes that captured your taste buds over the past year.

I hope you’ll find inspiration in one (or more!) of these top recipes. As this blog embarks on its 13th year, I’m excited to share even more delicious creations with you—from fabulous drinks and quick midweek chicken recipes (always a hit) to indulgent desserts that might be just too good to share with anyone.

The most popular recipe for 2024 – same as 2023 – is the recipe for Claudia Roden’s Turkish Yoghurt Cake. An incredibly quick and easy cheesecake using only 6 ingredients it is the perfect bake no matter your baking experience. Glam it up with some fresh berries of your choice.

Second spot is an all time favourite biscuit cake, my Peppermint Crisp Biscuit Cake. It was also in the top 10 last year but this year more than doubled its views. Replace the Peppermint Crisp with any crunchy, minty chocolate you find locally and I challenge anyone to just one bite, it is so good.

Another top 10 regular, this year’s number 3 spot is the delicious and decadent Lemon Ricotta Cake with Toasted Pistachio Frosting. I posted it 7 years ago and it is still getting all the love. As I say in the recipe, don’t skimp on the lemon zest. You definitely want all that lemony zest.

If you make one chicken recipe on heinstirred, make this Sri Lankan Baked Chicken at no 4. A recipe by Prakash Sivanathan and Niranjala Ellawala from their book, Sri Lanka – The Cookbook. It’s hard to believe a recipe so simple and easy can be so delicious.

I am so happy that Number 5 on the list of The Most Popular Recipes of 2024 belongs to this Italian veggie tart called Scarpaccia. A delicious summer dish using courgettes, you can easily make it gluten free by swapping the flour for chickpea flour. Serve it hot, at room temperate or cold in a lunchbox.

I gave a classic Sticky Toffee Pudding a makeover by soaking the dates in some freshly brewed coffee, added more coffee to the toffee sauce and the resulting Sticky Coffee Pudding was delicious enough to make it to number 6 in 2024. So good served warm when it is cold outside but I do love it ice cold, straight from the fridge, Nigella style,  the next day.

Another Peppermint Crisp recipe (thanks to all the South Africans) and at number 7 is this Peppermint Crisp Cheesecake that is made in a pressure cooker. Silky, creamy and dreamy it is a stunner of a cheesecake. I often get asked how to adapt the recipe for an oven and to be honest I have never made this in a conventional oven. My best solution is to baked your trusted vanilla cheesecake recipe written for an oven and dress that cheesecake with the peppermint crisp topping of my recipe.

An Ottolenghi recipe made it to the top 10 with this luscious Lemon Labneh Posset. It is a recipe I regularly make when we have a dinner party and will continue doing so in 2025. It is super simple and hits the sweet spot each time. Skip the burnt lemon powder and meringue topping, the possets are perfection without all that faff.

Who doesn’t love a rusk and at number 9 are these Muesli Buttermilk Rusks. They are on the sweet side so feel free to reduce the sugar by about 75g as the muesli that you adds more sweetness to the rusks. I mention my mom’s buttermilk rusks in the recipe. The photos have been taken and the blog post is written to share her recipe. I just need to hit publish so make sure you have subscribed at the end of this post to receive it.

To round out the list of The Most Popular Recipes of 2024, is this Aubergine Schnitzel. I posted the recipe all the way back in 2018 and  have to admit I’d forgotten about it, so it’s great to see it being so popular in 2024. The exterior is super crunchy and the interior meltingly soft. Served with a chimichurri inspired dressing and a fresh tomato salad, it makes for a delicious veggie lunch.

I am sneaking in a number 11 this year as there is a difference of 50 views. My Passionfruit Champagne recipe goes all the way back to 2016 and 9 years later it’s still getting the attention it deserves. Festive, fabulous and delicious for any occasion at any time of the year.
