Passion Fruit and coffee truly is a delicious combination and if you’re based in the southern hemisphere where summer is still in full swing, this Passion Fruit Iced Espresso is definitely worth making before the autumn chill kicks in. And if you are up north where the glimmer of spring is just coming through, keep this recipe for when you need a cool and tropical drink with a coffee kick.
Here is a step by step reel on my Instagram of how to make the Passion Fruit Iced Espresso.
As you can see it is super easy to make. If passion fruit (or granadilla as we’ll call it in South Africa) is not in season, the tinned pulp works perfectly. You need the pulp of about 2 passion fruits, 2 tablespoons from a tin. Top it up ginger beer for a spicy sweetness or if you prefer it a bit sweeter use ginger ale. Add lots of crushed ice and mint.
Top it up with a single or double shot of espresso of your favourite coffee. Give it a stir and pretend you are on a tropical island.
The Passion Fruit Iced Espresso is easily turned into a summer afternoon cocktail with a splash of vodka and using a decaf coffee if preferred.
I hope you enjoy this recipe for a Passion Fruit Iced Espresso. Remember to follow and share your pics with me on Instagram. I recently had the pleasure to chat to Russel Wasserfall about my foray into ceramics and my photography career on A Table in the Corner podcast. Click here to have a listen.
