I’m more than happy with a Negroni as my drink of choice and possibly the only cocktail that could make me happier is a Negroni Sbagliato. But I have a sweet tooth and this Christmas Cookie Cocktail is one of those dreamy, creamy and sweet cocktails that is hard to resist.
It is based on a Sugar Cookie Martini, a cocktail made with vodka, cream liqueur and cream but I wanted to go for something a little bit lighter in alcohol and cream. So I opted to make my Christmas Cookie Cocktail with whiskey, condensed milk for sweetness and evaporated milk for creaminess without the fatty mouthfeel you can get from cream. For that unmistakable Christmas cookie flavour I added a good pinch of cinnamon and cardamom.
But you can really play around and replace the whiskey with brandy or even something in the vein of Amaretto or Kahlua, bearing in mind that liqueurs usually have sugar added and you don’t want a cocktail that is too sweet. The same with the spices, replace the cardamom with ginger or mixed spice, whichever takes your fancy.
I think the garnish makes the Christmas Cookie Cocktail really festive and fun, I mean who does not love hundreds and thousands sprinkles? All you need to is make a quick frosting of icing sugar mixed with some water to make spreadable paste. Use a knife and spread on the side of the glass and gently dab the glass in the sprinkles.
